Application Scientist
Position Summary:
Helixworks is looking for an outstanding application scientist capable of executing DNA library preparation and sequencing workflows to accelerate product development.
As part of the Helixworks team your responsibilities would be, working in an NGS laboratory environment and gaining expertise in workflow automation and method optimisation for nanopore sequencing of DNA.
Responsibilities:
Conduct sample multiplexing & library preparation for Next Generation Sequencing platforms, ensuring precise and efficient processing of samples for accurate data generation.
Work in a laboratory environment with analytical equipment. Prepare the various buffers/reagents necessary for experiments and ensure their quality control.
Execute, design, develop and optimise protocols to sequence DNA via ONT sequencing.
Perform various molecular biology processes and techniques such as Ligation, PCR, DNA quantitation and purification.
Gain expertise in automating workflows and scripting liquid handling robot protocols (ex: Opentrons) to run library prep protocols.
Maintain thorough, accurate and detailed digital documentation of all work produced, inclusive of problems and deviations.
Support the development of SOPs and workflows to automate multiplexed sequencing runs.
Troubleshoot and provide information back to team members in a helpful, courteous, positive and professional manner.
Manage multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to independently execute those priorities.
Requirements:
BSc/MSc in Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
Solid practical experience in molecular laboratory techniques acquired through education or work.
Proficiency with understanding and clearly discussing fundamental theory and principles of experimental design, techniques and results.
Excellent time management and project management abilities with the capacity to quickly adjust and respond to changing circumstances.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, coupled with a proactive approach to independently acquiring new skills and knowledge, showcasing high learning agility.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of organisation.
Internal drive and initiative to take charge and accomplish tasks without constant supervision.
What we offer:
Competitive salary €37,000 - €42,000.
